Beryl Deborah Calvin, 81, of Springvale, Maine passed away on Monday August 15, 2005 at the Newton Center in Sanford, Maine. She was born on March 30, 1924 in Sanford a daughter of James A. and Alice M. (Kirkpatrick) Calvin.She received her R.N. degree from the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She also received a B.S. degree from Nason College in Springvale, Maine. Later in life she received her M.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.17 years she was headquartered in Atlanta, GA working in the capacity of Rehabilitation nurse for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. She also was in Winter Park, Florida for another 17 years in the capacity of Administrator for the operations office of Homemakers Upjohn. She helped to build the office into a busy and profitable business enterprise. The final five years of her career she was employed by the State of Florida Department of elder Affairs in Orlando, Florida.She traveled widely throughout North America: Extensive travel throughout the Southern US for Liberty Mutual. Visited Mexico, Alaska and her parent's home area in the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Intelligent and inquisitive she greatly enjoyed reading and research in history, genealogy and antiques.After retiring from her professional career in Florida, she returned to her beloved native hometown of Sanford, Maine, where she enjoyed the friendship and companionship of many dear friends. She was a member of the North Parish Congregational Church where she recently assisted in updating the Church's history. She was currently President of the Searchlight Club as well as a member of the College Club of Sanford.She is survived by one brother, Carl E. Calvin and his wife, Betty of Philmont, NY, niece, Susan (Calvin) Marcolese, of Logan, UT, nephews, Lynn E. Calvin, of Clifton, Park, NY, James S. Calvin, of Valatie, NY and Jeffrey M. Calvin of Mechanicsburg, PA, grand nieces, Jane and Alissa Calvin, Kimberly (Marcolese) Kelly, Amanda J. Calvin, Elizabeth J. Calvin, great grand niece, Jordyn Kelly.Visiting hours will be held today Thursday August 18 from 6-8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10am at the North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the North Parish Congregational Church 893 Main Street Sanford, Maine 04073.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine.
