David E. Wigley, Jr., 69, of Sanford, died on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.David was born in Belfast, Maine on August 2, 1949 to Rev. David E. Wigley Sr. and Marion (Davis) Wigley. Marion passed away in 1955 and David was later adopted and raised by Barbara (LeCleire) Wigley. His family lived in several places throughout the state while he was growing up and he ultimately graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1967. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. After completing his term in the military he returned to Maine.During his working life David was employed mainly in the retail industry. He lived in several places including Connecticut, Florida and Alabama before returning to Maine four years ago. He was an animal lover and had a variety of pets throughout his life including a pet skunk, a wallaby, ferrets, dogs, parrots, snakes and other types of birds. David was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time at home. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and his dog Nico.David was pre-deceased by his father, David E. Wigley Sr. and his former wife, Kathleen (DeLong) Wigley. David is survived by his mother, Barbara Wigley of Portland; his daughter, Regan Grant and her husband Todd of Acton; two grandchildren, Courtney and Adam Grant, Both of Acton; four siblings, Sharon Warner of Huntsville, Alabama, Jack Wigley of Meriden, Connecticut, Meg Wallace and her husband Jim of Canandaigua, New York and Luanne Morgan and her husband Mark of Scarborough and many nieces and nephews.A graveside service with military honors will be held at a date to be announced in the spring at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O.
