David R. Vachon, 70, also known as Jeep, of Shapleigh, passed away on January 29, 2013 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Sanford on April 30, 1942 a son of the late Thomas and Vivien (Young) Vachon.He graduated from Sanford High School in 1961 where he had been a member of the wrestling and football teams. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1963 until 1969. On May 1st, 1965 he married Joyce Martin in England. For many years he was employed as a supervisor at Odat Machine in Gorham.He enjoyed car shows, drag races and eating out at different local eateries. He found great joy in attending his grandchildren's activitiesHe is predeceased by his wife, Joyce (Martin) Vachon who passed away in 2008.He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Adams and her husband, Paul Jr., of Shapleigh, grandchildren, Colby Adams, Regan Adams and Nealey Adams, brother, Gerald Vachon and his wife, Ursula of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
