Dr. David A. Brown, 55, of Biddeford, died unexpectedly April 24 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.He was born in Indianapolis, IN on July 11, 1950, a son of Clifton C. and Maxine (Henderson) Brown.He earned his bachelor's degree at Colorado University, his master's degree at the University of South Dakota, and his doctorate at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.He worked for 25 years in South Dakota as a physical therapist with abnormally developed clients. He came to Biddeford in 1998 and taught for 4 years at the University of New England in the Physical Therapy Department and in pediatrics.At the time of his death, he was in private practice in southern Maine as a pediatric physical therapist in early childhood developmental centers and in home settings.His family described him as a kind, generous and free spirited man of varied interests of which he was very passionate. His family was first and foremost in his life especially his wife and his grandson. He was very serious about his career and devoted himself wholly to his clients. A social activist, he was especially interested in breaking down social, economic, racial, ethnic and age barriers. Also a kid at heart, he has an extensive Pez collection and enjoyed landscaping.He was of the Baha'i Faith.He was preceded in death by his father Clifton C. Brown and by his brother, Joseph Brown.He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lynelle H. Brown of Biddeford, 2 daughters, Avis Myers and her husband Ed of Biddeford, Johanna Gilland, her husband David and their son Kaden of Saco, 2 sons, Benjamin Brown and his fiancee Deirdre Imagire of Chicago, IL, Brian Brown and his wife Silvita of Toronto, Canada, his mother, Maxine Henderson Brown of Boulder, CO, his brother Stephen Brown and his wife Sally of Arvada, CO, his twin brother Douglas Brown and his wife Eyda of Houston, TX and by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday at 1 :00 PM in Brooks Memorial Park in Eliot.
