Hanson, 52, of Waterboro, Maine, died Tuesday August 6, 2002 at The Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford following a year long battle with cancer.He was born in Sanford, Maine on November 30, 1949, the son of William and Norma (Roberts) Hanson, and was a 1968 Graduate of Sanford High School.Danny worked at Limerick Shoe during high school, and picked thousands of bushels of apples. He also a truck driver for the former Sprague Electric, The Co-Hen Egg Farm, and most recently for Getchell Bros. in Sanford, delivering ice for the past five years. During his working career, he did plowing and wood cutting.Danny was an avid hunter, specifically for deer, bird and rabbit. One of his favorite trips to take was traveling to Pennsylvania to deer hunt. He also enjoyed riding around looking for tracks. He enjoyed lottery tickets, horseshoes, camping, 3-wheeling, lobstering, Nascar Racing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and collecting sports cards. Mr. Hanson was affectionately known as "The Bud Man", and was a member of the local "coffee clubs" in Waterboro. One of his best qualities which he will be remembered for was his great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Helen M. (Turner) Hanson, his son Kevin W. Hanson and his wife Becky of Alfred; a daughter Kelly Pearson and her husband Adam of Lyman; grandchildren Benjamin D. Hanson and Madeline N. Pearson; his father William Hanson, SR; a brother William Hanson, JR. of North Waterboro; a sister Rachel Roux of Alfred and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday in The North Waterboro Community Baptist Church, Route 5 North Waterboro. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, North Waterboro. Should friends desire, donations may be made in his memory to The American Cancer Society 1 Main Street Suite 300 Topsham, ME. 04086.
