Constance Bennett

Constance "Connie" Bennett, 89, longtime resident of Straw Mill Brook Road, Waterboro, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford from complications of Alzhiemers. She was born March 25, 1915 in Bridgton, Maine a daughter of Joseph and Lena (Cox) Trumble. She was raised and educated in Bridgton, graduating from Bridgton High School, Class of 1933. On December 14, 1941, Connie married Melbert Bennett and shared 49 years together, before his death in 1986. Together, they moved to Waterboro in 1952.Mrs. Bennett worked at the Aletta Dress Shop and picked apples for Giles Orchard. But, her favorite place to work was the Waterboro Elementary School lunch program. She enjoyed the children and her co-workers for many years. She loved gardening especially her gladioli garden and the large rambling pink/red rose bushes that always attracted the attention of travelers and neighbors. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Family tradition was important to her and she especially enjoyed celebrating holidays with her family members. Mrs. Bennett created fine handwork, which included sewing, knitting and crocheting. Survivors include a son, Sheridan Bennett and his wife Janice of Groveville, ME; two daughters, Karen Prezekopowski and her husband, Andrew of Waterboro; and Elaine and her husband, Anthony Taylor of Waterboro; a sister, Marie Barker of Bethel; a granddaughter, Christine Morrill and her husband, Alan of Waterboro; three grandsons, Michael Prezekopowski and his wife Bobbi of Waterboro; Troy Bennett and his wife, Caris of Portland; and Todd Bennett and his wife Kathy of Waterboro; and 4 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Charlotte and Violet, and two brothers, Walter and Malcolm.Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale with the Rev. David Borger, officiating. Family and friends may call from 1:00 pm until the hour of the service. Burial will be later in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, So. Waterboro.
