Claudette Horr

Claudette Horr, 81, of Sanford, died with her family by her side on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a brief illness. Claudette was born on May 23, 1936 to Claude and Irene (Beals) Elwell in Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools. The majority of her life was devoted to caring for and raising her family. When her children were grown she was employed at U.S. Optical Disc in Sanford where she stayed for 10 years until her retirement. Claudette had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was Past Matron of the Clover Chapter. The Clover Chapter eventually merged with the Ruth Chapter where she was also a member for many years. She was a very clever and artistic woman. She enjoyed oil painting, crafting and knitting and often attended craft fairs where she would sell the various items she had made. She was an avid book reader having read thousands of books in her lifetime. Claudette loved animals and was particularly fond of her cat Cosmo. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Claudette was predeceased by her husband Everard Horr in 2001. Surviving are three children, Everard "Lenny" Horr of Sanford, Erika Lynn Rose of Limington and Ellen Richter of New Mexico; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and her beloved cat Cosmo. A graveside service will be held at a date to be announced in the spring at the Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
