PORTLAND - Chester Frank Mrowka, Jr., 64, of Cape Elizabeth, died on Monday, July 25 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. He was born in Portland on May 17, 1947 a son of Chester F. Mrowka, Sr. and Anna Arbaczewski Mrowka. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Cheverus High School in the Class of 1965. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1969 with a degree in Political Science. As a young man he worked summers at Calvary Cemetery. In 1969, Chester joined the Air Force. In 1973 he was in an automobile accident on his home from the service which left him a 100% disabled veteran. He was a communicant of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a member of the Portland YMCA and worked out daily. He enjoyed his home in Cape Elizabeth that he shared a number of years with his brother, Stephen. He liked to walk outdoors, especially with his father when he was alive. Chester was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by one sister, Patricia Donnelly of Portland; one brother, Stephen Mrowka of Portland; two special first cousins and caregivers, Dorothy Lawrence of Cape Elizabeth and Mary Campbell of South Portland; and a niece and a nephew. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. DeGrinney, Dr. Aronson and the staff at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their kind care. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 27, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 9:15 on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church, 279 Danforth Street, Portland.
