Charlotte F. Libby

North Shapleigh, MaineCharlotte F. Libby, 88, of North Shapleigh died August 23rd 2002 at The Maine Medical Center in Portland.She was born in Newark NJ., on January 18, 1914, she was the daughter of Franklin and Isabelle (Lynn) Hurlburt.Charlotte was an art teacher in New York City for a few years, and lived in New Jersey for 10 years before moving to North Shapleigh.She and her husband Charles Libby ran the general store and post office in Shapleigh for over 30 years.Mrs. Libby was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star Chapter # 139 of Waterboro, and also a member of a bible study group.She was an artist who enjoyed painting and also baking, specifically pies which she would sell.Most of all her children and grandchildren were the most important part of her life.She is survived by a daughter Carol Webb and her husband Kenneth of Saugus, MA; sons Charles Libby of Shapleigh and Douglas Libby and his wife Patricia of Warren, ME; a sister Jane Ossmann of Florham, NJ; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.Graveside services will be held at 6:00 Pm on Thursday in Highland Grove Cemetery, North Shapleigh.
