CHARLES M. LIBBYLimingtonCharles M. Libby passed away Friday August 18, 2006.Charles was born August 3, 1926 to Bernard and Olga Libby. He graduated from Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania where he starred in track and field. Upon graduation he served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater.Charlie, as everyone knew him, was a Maine and U. S. federal game warden stationed in Fort Kent, Weld and Wells, Maine. Warden Libby came to be known as one of the toughest, straightest, most honest, dependable, be-everywhere-at-the-same-time wardens the state has ever known. The "myth" developed by gaming enthusiasts was a true man of similar character to his family.Charles was married June 24, 1948 to Cynthia Suttie and fathered four sons: Stephen, John, David and Robin. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Dutch. The honesty and integrity displayed during his 23 years as a Maine game warden carried over to a reputable 40+ years in the antique business. With his wife Cynthia, Charles made life long friends in the business and became well known in the area. Charles was an avid sports fan and a loyal Red Sox follower. He traveled to Ft. Myers each year to watch spring training where he was known by players and staff as "Charlie from Maine." He was given a special V.I.P. life pass to attend each season. Charlie was a man who lived life to the fullest, was a wealth of knowledge and advice, and had an unrivaled compassion for all. He was a true role model, touching everyone he met with his warm heart and wonderful sense of humor. He will be sadly missed but always remembered in the state of Maine and to the people and animals he served so faithfully for so long. There will be no visiting hours, and a private family ceremony will be held.In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions be made to the Limington Emergency Rescue Services, P. O.
