Charles Griffin

SANFORD, Maine-Charles M. Griffin, Sr., 62, previously of Berwick, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 23, 2010.He was born in Laconia, NH, and his family relocated to North Berwick, ME, where he attended school, graduating from North Berwick High in 1968. Settling in Berwick in 1970, Charles raised his family on Rochester St., his residence until 2003.Charlie worked for many years as an electrical utilities lineman. He also owned and operated the Queensbury Restaurant in Somersworth, NH in the 1980's, where he met and made many friends.He loved being both a father and grandfather, and enjoyed seeing and playing with his grandchildren. His other interests included: cooking good food for family and friends, playing cards and cribbage, watching educational TV, and hanging out with his best friend Richard "Ben" Jacques. He liked to tell real-life stories and had a great sense of humor that delighted many. He will be missed immensely.He is survived by his four sons, Charles Jr., Joseph, Eric, and Scott; his mother, Esther Lois Griffin; sisters, Virginia Meehan and Judith Anderson; and grandchildren, Tiana, Eric Jr., Avian, Blake, and Samuel.He was predeceased by his father, Charles S. Griffin, and brother, Steven D. Griffin.In accordance with his wishes, Charles will be cremated and his ashes will be laid to rest in a family lot in Tennessee.Family and friends are invited to attend a remembrance and reflection visitation on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick, ME.
