Charles "Chuck" L. Floyd, Jr. 82, died December 5, 2003 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine.He was born in Mattapan, Mass, November 15, 1921 a son of Charles and Maude (Reed) Floyd, Sr and was raised and educated in Wakefield, Mass.Mr. Floyd served during World War II with the U.S. Army. Mr. Floyd graduated from No. Shore Community College, Beverly, MA and worked for over 32 years as an elevator repairman. He was employed with the Otis, Montgomery and Stanley Elevator Companies. Chuck held membership with Local # 4 in Boston, MA. Mr. Floyd was past commander of the American Legion Post # 63 of Wakefield, Mass. In his younger years, Chuck belonged to the Demolaye. Mr. Floyd and his family spent over 45 years enjoying their summer cottage on Square Pond. For the past 20 years, Chuck has made Maine his home.He was instrumental in starting Youth Hockey and coached several different sports. Mr. Floyd was also an Advisory Board Member of the Airport Commission. Survivors include his wife of three years, Patricia (Provencher) Floyd of Sanford, ME; a son: Charles N. Floyd and his daughter, Donna M. Floyd both of Peabody, MA; Two sisters: Shirley Mason of Oregon and Patricia Floyd of Cape Cod, MA; Three Stepsons: Raymond and Patrick Martel both of Sanford, ME and Donald Martel of Kennebunk, Maine. Two stepdaughters, Marguerite Porell of Virginia Beach, VI and Suzanne Rogers of Sanford, ME. Also, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 1 great grandson and 1 great granddaughter. As well as 9 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria Mae (Rancourt) Floyd in 1994.Calling hours will be Wendesday, Dec. 10th. From 6 - 8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, Maine. Funeral Services will be Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Daniels, officiating.Burial will be held in the Spring at Oakdale Cemetery, Sanford, Maine.Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 163 Lancaster St. Suite 160B, Portland, Maine 04101 or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 710 W. 168th.
