Charles E. Buck

Charles B. Buck, 90 years old, of W. Newfield, ME died Saturday November 29, 2003 in Kennebunk, ME. Mr. Buck was born on October 6, 1913 in Merridan, CT. He was the son of Charles and Eunice Barstow Buck. He is a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono and owned and operated his own poultry farm. Mr. Buck was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, a Mason with the Dayspring lodge, an Eastern Star patron, past master of the W. Newfield Grange, a 25-year member of the school board and served as town moderator. He was also a member of the W. Newfield Congregational Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a volunteer fireman. When he was not tending to his chickens, or working the occasional odd job, Mr. Buck enjoyed a game of golf, tennis, or puttering around his garden. Mr. Buck was a true gentleman, and friend to many. He never rushed or hurried to finish a job, or go somewhere, and his timing was always exact. Predeceasing him is a son Archer, and a sister Theresa. Surviving is his loving wife of over 66 years, Margaret Grover Buck of W. Newfield, a son, Charles "Hap" Buck of Hallowell, ME; three daughters, Nancy Stambach of Saco, ME, Eunice Sargent of Kennebunkport, ME and Theresa Dube of Saco, ME. Also surviving is a brother Gurdon S. Buck of Watertown, MA, a sister Mary Cooper of Waverly, OH, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren. A 12:00 PM funeral service for Mr. Buck will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2003 at the W. Newfield Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the W. Newfield Rescue, P.O.
