Cecile Marie (Vallee) Melanson 1935-2024 SANFORD—Cecile Marie Melanson, 88, of Sanford, passed away on Friday February 23, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. Cecile was born in Sanford on December 17, 1935 the daughter of Leonadis and Olive (Bouchard) Vallee. She grew up in Sanford with her 14 siblings and attended Sanford schools. Cecile married the love of her life, Laurie (Larry) Melanson on November 8, 1952. They were married for 66 years and raised six children in a home filled with faith and love. Mrs. Melanson will be missed for the unconditional love she gave freely. She gave the best hugs ever. You could feel the love she had for you when she hugged you. She was a wonderful baker and cook, making pies that were second to none. She loved to sew, crochet, make puzzles and doing crafts with her daughters and granddaughters. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She loved flower gardening and watching birds. Cecile had a love for life itself. She was everything good and kind. She had a great faith in Jesus and trusted in him for everything. Cecile was “Sunshine” Cecile was “Love” She was predeceased by her loving husband, Laurie J. Melanson; her beloved son, Larry J. Melanson; her grandson, Jeffrey K. Beattie and son-in-law, Kevin L. Beattie. She is survived by her children, Janice Hussey and her husband David, Arline Laclair and her husband Larry, Sandra Pollack and her husband Michael, Melinda Beattie and her fiancé Bruce and Michelle Osmer and daughter-in-law Robbyn Melanson; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be Monday February 26 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church on Tuesday at 10:00 am. Spring burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
