Cecile Boisvert Delaney
Cecile Boisvert Delaney, 84, of Portland, ME passed away May 20, 2024, at Marshwood Center in Lewiston, ME.
Cecile was born on March 26, 1940, in Lewiston, a daughter of Lucy Bergeron Boisvert Dube and Conrad Boisvert. As a young child, Cecile was predeceased by her father. Her mother then married Valdor Dube who cared for Cecile as she was his own.
Following graduation from Edward Little High School in Auburn, Cecile earned her cosmetology license from Pelletier’s School of Cosmetology in Lewiston.
Cecile joined the Women’s Army Corps serving her country during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Following her honorable discharge, Cecile moved to Washington, D.C. transitioning to a position within the CIA.
Upon her return to Maine in the late 1960’s, she met John Richard Delaney, Jr whom she married July 1970. They moved to Greenwood Lane in Portland and began a full life of working, establishing Delaney’s Burner Service, socializing and raising their family.
Once John and Cecile retired, they enjoyed traveling and visiting family.
John preceded Cecile in death January 2009. She missed him terribly; however, she continued to travel, visiting family and being the social butterfly that she was known for.
Cecile’s faith in Christ and His love for her saw Cecile through life’s difficulties. She was a woman of great faith.
The family would like to acknowledge our appreciation for Laurie Raymond as she lovingly assisted Cecile during her final years.
Together, Cecile and John have seven children: Patricia McLaughlin and her husband Daniel, Suffolk, VA; John Delaney III, Standish, ME; Candy Kramp and her husband Darryl, Virginia Beach, VA; Mary Jane Delaney and Ernest Poulos, Sebago, ME; Chris Delaney and his wife Angela, Braselton, GA; Tim Delaney, Naples, ME; Denise Richards and her husband Bill, Buxton, ME. Cecile and John were blessed with 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Cecile is also survived by five sisters: Claire Bizier, Tavares, FL; Louise Dube, Chattanooga, TN; Joanne Ayotte and her husband Henry, Boca Raton, FL; Christine Oullette and her husband Paul, Lewisville, NC; and Denise Brown, Naples, FL. Cecile was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Roxanne Delaney, wife of John Delaney III.
Visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, ME. A Graveside service with Military Honors will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
