Catherine E. "Kay" Thibodeau, 80, died December 27, 2003 at Huntington Common after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Kay was a loving, caring and generous person who truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was born August 2, 1923 to Ernest and Helen (Moreau) Thibodeau of Nason Street and was one of 13 children.After graduating from Sanford High School, she was employed during the war as a secretary for the military for many years. She was later employed by J. Armand Gendron for 53 years as a legal secretary. Kay's interests were varied. She loved to read, write, cook and take sunrise walks on the beach. Also, she enjoyed spending time with her many nieces, nephews and family. She loved to travel to Europe and particularly loved Paris, which she visited eleven times.She was a brilliant woman, who had a thirst for knowledge, and wrote several articles that were published in Down East Magazine and Readers' Digest. She loved yard sales, flea markets and all of her family members were recipients of her many treasures. Kay was predeceased by a brother, Alfred "Pete" Thibodeau in 1999 and Ruth Barberie in 2003. Survivors include: Alma Morin and husband, Paul; Ernestine Lovell and husband Richard of Sanford; Henry Thibodeau and wife, Patricia of Springvale; Sr. Martha Thibodeau of Waterville; Cecelia Brown and husband Calvin of Pleasant Hills, CA; Lucille Thibodeau of Anniston, AL; Leo Thibodeau and wife Mary Ellen of Falls Church, VA; Philip Thibodeau and wife Claire of Springfield, MA; Claire Garrity and husband John of Carlisle, PA; Rose Devarenne and husband Stanley of Horn Lake, Mississippi and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews.A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Church on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 11:00 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 163 Lancaster St. Suite 160 B, Portland, ME 04101.
