Catherine B. Pike

SanfordCatherine B. Pike 81, of Shapleigh, Maine died September 26, 2001 at The Goodall Hospital, Sanford, Maine.She was born in Salvage, Newfoundland Canada on February 25, 1920 the daughter of Archibald and Clara Squire Brown moving to Lynn, MA., at age six. She was a graduate of Lynn High School, Lynn, MA.Mrs. Pike was employed by General Electric in Lynn, MA. for several years. She graduated from The Lynn Hospital School of nursing in 1948, then working as Head Nurse in The Medical Surgical Unit. She was a life member of The Alumnae Association of The Lynn Hospital School of Nursing.She married Carl L. Pike in 1963 and retired to Shapleigh, Maine in 1971.For many years Mrs. Pike and her husband Carl owned and operated Bob's Trading Post at their cottage on Square Pond in Shapleigh.She was predeceased by her husband Carl L. Pike who died in 1995.She is survived by a sister Mary Grace Anderson of Holden, ME; a brother John Squire Brown and his wife Ruth of Damariscotta, Maine; a step-son Robert M. Pike of Freemont, NH; a step-daughter Barbara J. Doerfler of Columbia, SC; 5 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday at Heald Funeral Home 580 Maine Street, Springvale, Maine. A funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday at The Shapleigh Corner First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ping Grove Cemetery, South Waterboro, followed by a reception at the church.
