Carolyn Evans Tutor

Carolyn E. Tutor, 71, formally of Alfred, died Monday, August 30, 2004 in Tampa, Florida following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She born January 31, 1933 in the historical Bow & Arrow House in Alfred, the youngest daughter of Harry L. and Helen (Wilson) Evans. Carol, as everyone called her attended schools in Alfred and graduated from Sanford High School with the Class of 1951.She worked at the Waterboro Leather Mill as a payroll clerk before going to Florida in 1961. Mrs. Tutor was employed with Eckerd's Drug and was also a bartender for many years. In 1971, she and her family returned to Maine. She worked at Sprague Electric in a variety of positions before retiring in 1986 and moving back to Florida. She then went to work for the Health Department until 1999.Carol was devoted to her family and husband, but her grandchildren were the light of her life. She and her husband Don enjoyed fishing and went to the beaches of Florida often. Carol was an avid fan of NASCAR racing and was a diehard fan of Dale Ernhardt Sr. and Jr. She also loved to line dance and went to classes every Monday. Carol was loved by everyone and always had a generous smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Donald Tutor of Sebastian, Fl. Two daughters: Terry Gray and husband Carl of Alfred and Anna Desrochers of Springvale. Three sons: Garry Junkins and wife, Nancy of Sanford; Ronald "Gator" Junkins and wife, Teresa of Alfred and John Carter of Springvale. Two stepchildren: Keith and Brenda Tutor of Mississippi. Also, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. Her parents, a brother, Ralph O. Evans and a sister, Frances "Babe" Penney predeceased her.A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at 1:00 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale with Rev. Rick Leach, officiating. Friends and family are invited to calling hours from 11:00 am until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.
