South Portland- Caroline Margaret Jackson passed away on April 27, 2024, at the age of 78 in South Portland, ME. She was born on September 7, 1945, in Moberly, MO to Lyle and Margaret Craig. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jackson, and her brother, Pete Craig. Caroline was a strong, independent, and loyal woman who took great delight in her life’s accomplishments as a mother and an RN. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family members, including her daughter, Mary D’Ambrosio, sister, Lyla Hoyland, and brother, William Craig. Caroline spent the majority of her adult life working as an RN, a career she rightfully celebrated until her final days. Her time working in the emergency room of The University of Missouri brought her much pride, evident by the wisdom she shared with others from her time spent there. Her family and friends loved hearing stories from her years ‘in the trenches’ and looked forward to those moments together. Caroline was known for her deep love of animals. Anywhere she went, she would have her dog with her too. She spent her life caring and loving for multiple dogs, cats and other farm animals. That love of animals was passed on to her daughter when she became a veterinarian, a trait she was infinitely proud to have given her. Caroline’s other great passion in life was football. A life-long Kansas City Chiefs fan, you could always count on her every Sunday to be in her recliner wearing her Chiefs jersey watching every play of every game. Her love for the Chiefs was so infectious, her family and friends found themselves rooting for them as well just so they could see the joy she would exude when they won. A small memorial was held for Caroline on May 2, 2024. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, ME. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a cause that was very important to Caroline.
