Carol J. PenneyOf LebanonCarol J. Penney, 65 years old, of Lebanon, ME died early Monday morning July 30, 2001 at her home on Cedar Lane.Mrs. Penney was born on February 29, 1936 in Rahway, NJ. She was the daughter of Eugene and Helen Schomburg Ludlum. She attended schools in Westfield, NJ and was a graduate of Westfield High School. She continued her education by moving north to Springvale, ME and attending Nason College. She would later graduate from Nason with a degree in fashion merchandising in 1957. It was at college that she met her husband Thomas Penney. On August 3 of 1957 they were married in Westfield, NJ.Shortly after Mr. Penney was stationed in Germany while he served in the armed forces. Mrs. Penney followed her husband to Germany and together they began to raise a family.Upon their return to the States Mrs. Penney opened the Evergreen Mobile Home Park in Lebanon. For many years she took care of and managed the facility, but above all she was a mother, a wife, and homemaker to her loving family.Mrs. Penney was said to be a brilliant seamstress. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and traveling across North America.Her son Thomas A. Penney Jr. predeceased her.Surviving is her husband Thomas Penney Sr. of Lebanon; a son David W. and Sarah Penney of Crested Butte, CO and their daughter Elizabeth; a daughter Susan C. Penney of Rochester, N.H. and a brother Kenneth Ludlum of MD.A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday August 2, 2001 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred, ME. Rev.
