BURTON G. COYAlfredBurton G. Coy, 87, formerly of Alfred, died July 4 at Huntington Common in Kennebunk after several years of declining health.He was born in Auburn on August 3, 1917 the son of Burton E. and Anna (Sherman) Coy.He was an army air corps veteran of World War II.A resident of Lynnfield, MA for 40 years, he was employed for over 44 years with General Electric in Lynn, MA. He retired in 1980 and moved to Alfred.He was a member and past commander of the VFW Post #2346 in Saugus and of the Masonic Lodge in Saugus. In Alfred, he was a member of the Alfred Parish Church.Family members recalled that he was a dedicated and loving husband.Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Evelyn E. (Walker) Coy of Kennebunk, a daughter, Marilyn Carpenter and her husband Bernard of Fairfax, VA, 2 sons, Douglas Coy and his wife Joanne of Stoneham, MA, Bill Coy and his wife Gerri of Brookfield, NH, a sister Dorothy Thompson of Massachusetts, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.A funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 11 AM at the Alfred Parish Church, with the Rev. Bruce Burnham officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.
