Sanford, MaineBruce Berube, 56, of Longwood Lane, Sanford, died Thursday July 18th at The Maine Medical Center in Portland.Bruce was born December 12, 1945 in Providence, R.I., son of Raymond and Ada Berube of Swansea, MA.After graduating from high school, Mr. Berube joined The U.S. Navy where he served as a Seal during The Vietnam War.He worked construction in a supervisory capacity for many years until 1989 when he took a position at York County Community Action as a Sr. Rehab. Technician in housing and energy where his passion became helping those in need.He was a communicant of Alfred Parish Church in Alfred.He liked watching The History Channel, weekly boxing matches, Football Games, enjoyed boating, playing with his dog Drako and puttering around the yard with both his friend and Father-in-Law Henry Moquin. Surviving are his wife of 7 years, Dorothy (or Barbie as she is best known) for whom he was deeply devoted; 2 sons Todd of Newfield and Scott of Sanford; a sister Victoria (Vicki) Mindle of New Bedford, MA; 2 grandchildren Todd, JR. of CT. and Bri of Newfield, ME; He also leaves 2 stepsons Bill Simoneau of Sanford and Mark Simoneau of Kansas; 3 step grandchildren Nicholas of Sanford and Erik and Allison Simoneau of Ogden Utah.He was loved by all and will truly be missed by those who knew him.A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday July 23rd at Heald Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to The Arthritis Foundation Rheumatoid Division Northern New England Chapter 6 Chenell Dr. Suite 260 Concord, NH. 03301., or to the charity of one's choice.
