Brian Francis Houston

Brian and I grew up together in the Deering Center neighborhood of Portland. We both loved sports and got together often for basketball games behind the junior high school or baseball games in Baxter’s Woods. We played Little League on the same team. Every once in a while Brian would call me up and pretend to be our old LL Coach. He would put on a mock voice and tell me that Brian Houston was a better baseball player than Jim Morgan. I would have to threaten to hang up on him before he would stop. One of my best friend’s ever. I will miss him.

Unfortunately I just recently heard of Brian’s passing . I worked at the umbrella stand next to Brian at OOB for 21 years. He took me under his wing and taught me how to enjoy summer while working. I was 17 when I started that job and Brian was 23. I met many of his sometimes crazy, always kind to me , friends. Memories to last a lifetime. Rest easy Umbrella King.
