Blanche C. Grenier, 89, of Sanford, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Greenwood Center in Sanford.Blanche was born in Somersworth, NH on September 15, 1916 to Joseph and Lydianna (Metivier) Cote. She attended School in Portland and went to Cathedral High School. During the early 1930's she sang on the Uncle Dan and his Caravan radio program, which aired on WCSH Radio. Mrs. Grenier was employed at the former Goodall Textile Mills in Sanford, following her employment there, she worked as a stitched at Allied Shoe until her retirement.Blanche spent most of her time after retirement staying home and enjoying being a grandmother. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting but her greatest love was her family. Her grandchildren fondly referred to her as "the greatest memere in the world." Mrs. Grenier will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.Mrs. Grenier is survived by a son, Conrad G. Grenier of Sanford; 5 daughters, Claire G. Fleming of Saco, Jeanne G. Baker of Newark Valley, NY, Rachel Bannister of Sanford, Pamela Mason of Monmouth and Ellen Lehoux of Sanford; one sister, Madeline Gillings of Sanford; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.A period of visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 30, 2005 at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Funeral Mass will be held At St. Ignatius Church in Sanford on Monday, October 31, 2005 at 11:00 AM with interment following at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
