Bettina I. Libby

Springvale, MaineBettina I. Libby, 76, of Springvale, died Sunday September 8, 2002 at The Goodall Hospital in Sanford.She was born in Sanford on January 20, 1926, the daughter of Edwin and Frances (Wilkinson) Shaw and attended local schools. She also attended nursing school in Portland.After she married Lawrence Libby, she worked for the Goodall Hospital. She then worked for W.T. Grant. In her later years she worked at The Alletta Dress Shop in Springvale and at The Lions Den at Nasson College.She was a very active member of the 1st Baptist Church of Springvale where she was also a member of the sereco club. Mrs. Libby was also very active in The VFW Auxiliary.Mrs. Libby had a great sense of humor.She is survived by her sons John Libby of Sanford, William Libby of Shapleigh, Raymond Scott Libby of Austin, TX., and David Libby of Shapleigh; a sister Lois Farwell of Springvale; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence F. Libby who died in 1988. She was also predeceased by her brother Thurlow Shaw.Relatives and friends may call from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Heald Funeral Home 580 Main St., Springvale where a funeral will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Rev. Kenneth Keating pastor of The 1st Baptist Church of Springvale will officiate.
