Basil Johnson

Basil E. "Cap" Johnson Jr, 50, of Sanford died in Alfred on April 1, 2011.Basil was born in Boothbay Harbor on November 15, 1960 to Basil and Rebecca (Nelson) Johnson where he grew up and attended local schools.Basil worked as an auto mechanic for most of his life and was employed for approximately 30 years at J and J auto in Alfred. He enjoyed restoring and driving old cars and also liked to go fishing and clamming. He was a very quiet man and loved animals. He was particularly fond of his dog Rocco. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Basil was predeceased by his brother, Richard Johnson and by his father, Basil E. Johnson Sr.Surviving are his mother and step father, Rebecca and Edgar Lewis of Boothbay; his companion, Nancy Jones and her daughter, Bethany Jones of Sanford; three daughters, Nicole Campbell and her fiancee James Chattley of Pittston, Amanda Stacey and her husband James of West Baldwin and Jessica Johnson of West Newfield; four grandchildren, John Marshall of Pittston, Jalyn and Bryce Stacey of West Baldwin and Grayson Perro of West Newfield; two sisters, Tamara Seekins and her husband Ralph of West Bath and Lisa Campbell and her husband George of Boothbay; two brothers, Daniel Johnson of Lisbon and Andrew Johnson and his wife Alyce of Boothbay; several nieces and nephews and his dog Rocco.Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 PM with a funeral service following at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 8th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider making a donation to the local charity of one's choice.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
