Barbara I. Vermette

Barbara I. Vermette, 86, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday June 21, 2005 at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born in Bow Lake, New Hampshire on June 24, 1918 a daughter of Walter E. Sr., and Ella (Hall) Sessler.For many years she worked as a stitcher at the former Allied Shoe in Springvale. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Sanford.She is predeceased by her husband, Emile R. Vermette who died in 1995, one grandson, Andre Vermette who died in 1983, three brothers, Roland Sessler, Walter E. Sessler Jr., Lawrence Sessler.She is survived by one daughter, Louise V. Gomez of Orlando, Florida, one son, Roger P. Vermette of Sanford, four grandchildren, James Gomez, Pierre Vermette, Michelle Munich and Paul Vermette, two sisters, Elizabeth Sutton of Hallandale, Florida and Dorothy Sylvain of Gloucester, MA, 11 great grandchildren, Wesley Nugent, Natasha Higginbotham, Domenique Gomez, Ricardo Munich, Carly Morin, Devon Vermette, Charles Vermette, Sydney Vermete, Amanda Vermette, Daniel Vermette and Joseph Vermette, 3 great great grandchildren, April Nugent, David Michael Nugent and Adam Heath Higginbotham Jr., as well as nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be today, Thursday June 23 from 6-8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street in Springvale.
