Barbara Jean Ouellette

Portland - Barbara Jean How Ouellette, 90, of the Barron Center and formerly the Inn at Village Square in Gorham, passed peacefully from this life on September 8, 2017, following a lengthy illness. Born in Portland on July 30, 1927, she was the daughter of George Hathaway How and Theodora Sicard, Barbara graduated from South Portland High School in 1947. Barbara worked at W.T. Grant in Portland and Westbrook and at Saunders Brothers in Westbrook for many years and cherished the many wonderful friendships she made with coworkers and colleagues. On September 7, 1985, she married her husband, Paul A. Ouellette, who predeceased her after 25 years of marriage. She was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe church in Scarborough. The family would like to thank the staff at the Barron Center and the Inn at Village square in Gorham for their loving care of Barbara. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Paul in 2010; brothers, Frank in 1977, James in 1978, Llewellyn in 1997; sisters, Ruth Nelson in 2008 and Dorothy Lemelin in 2009. She is survived by six nieces, Nancy Hall and her husband Robert of Scarborough, Suzanne Farley and her husband Elmer of Standish, Pamela Belmore of PA, Sandra Usery and her husband Wallace of MI, Jeanne How of South Portland, Mary Hammond and her husband Frank of Auburn; three nephews, Peter How and his wife Constance, Richard How, Scott How; and numerous grand and great nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 9:00-10:15 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the Chapel at 10:15 AM followed by an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maximillian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland.
