Barbara Jean Hall Grondin, 79, of Alfred, left her caring family on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 while at the Newton Center in Sanford. She joined her loving family who passed before her and waited for her with open arms. She had been surrounded by her loving family who helped with her journey.Barbara was born in Sanford on August 2, 1932, a daughter of the late Harold Sr., and Christine (Whitehouse) Hall. She spent much of her life in Alfred, Acton, Springvale and back to Alfred. She was an avid knitter and taught many of her co-workers to knit. Her home and her gardens were a joy to her. Cleaning was a passion and a joy, not a chore.Barbara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter.Barbara worked many years in the medical field in local doctors offices, among them were Dr. David Leopold and Dr. Walter Peterline. She also worked at Goodall Hospital as an operating room assistant. She loved her work and her patients.She is predeceased by her parents, Harold and Christine Hall and her adoring husband, Bruce Walter Grondin, whom she married on his birthday, August 26, 1950. They spent 49 years together until he lost his battle with cancer. She spent every waking minute caring for him as she always has for her family. She has been the family rock.She is survived by her children, Wayne Bruce Grondin and his wife, Pam of Alfred, Faith Ann Grondin Pelletier of Limerick, grandchildren, Misty and Matthew Pelletier, step granddaughter, Amy-Beth Krikken and her family, great grandchildren, B.J and Megan Hill, a sister Betty Yates and her husband, Donald, two brothers, Harold R. Hall Jr., and his wife, Joanne and Kenneth Hall Sr., and his wife, Rachel, many loved and cherished nieces and nephews and their children and their grandchildren, many cousins, aunts and uncles.Visiting hours for Barbara will be on Sunday from 2 to 4PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com.
