Avis M. SmithSpringvaleAvis M. Smith, 85 of Springvale died Monday June 18, 2001 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Mrs. Smith was born on February 24, 2001 in Willimansett, MA. She was the daughter of William and Elsie Bauman Dorrell. She met her husband Robert Smith in Portland. A short time after they would marry on June 15, 1946. Together they lived in Springvale and raised their son. Mrs. Smith worked for many years at the Key Bank in Sanford.In her spare time Mrs. Smith enjoyed painting. She would paint seascapes and scenic landscapes mostly working in oils. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and doing handcrafts of all kinds. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a good friend to many. Surviving is her husband Robert of Springvale, a son Leslie (Janice) Smith of Springvale; two granddaughters, Stacey Beamis of N. Berwick, Lorey Herbert of Peoria, AZ, and a great grandson Cameron Beamis.A period of visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale; where an 11:00 AM funeral service will take place.
