Arline Gladys Wright

Arline G. Wright, 96, longtime resident of Main Street, Springvale, died January 3, 2005 at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born September 4, 1908 in Sanford a daughter of Fred E. and Alice (Goodwin) Hill and grew up on Mt. Hope Road, Sanford. She was a graduate of Nasson College. While providing coverage during vacation time at the Springvale National Bank, Arline found herself employed for the next 11 years as a teller. An excellent cook, she then went to work in the food service department at the Sanford Jr. High School and later at the H.D.Goodall Hospital. She was famous for her biscuits, piecrust, and the grandkids raved about her French toast. Mrs. Wright was known to speak her mind and defend those that were less able to help themselves. A dry sense of humor and practical advice came forth freely with her family and friends. She loved watching Lawrence Welk and Mitch Miller. She was devoted to her family and helped her younger sister, Elinor attend Nasson College. A favorite outing with her family was eating out at Ted's Fried Clams. An animal lover, she enjoyed many years of companionship with her cat Max.Survivors include her two daughters, Connie and her husband, Peter Beal of No. Waterboro; Carol and her husband, J. Charles Smith of Cypress, TX; 8 grandchildren, Alan "AJ" Beal of No. Waterboro; Cindy Gerry, Cheryl Stubbs both of No. Waterboro; Cathy Letarte of Fort Fairfield; Rebecca Beal Hernandez of No. Waterboro. Also, Robert and J. Michael Wallace both of Cypress, TX and Thomas Wallace of Houston, TX. 12 great grandchildren and 2 nephews and her sister - in -law, Margaret Billings of Nashua, NH. She was Pre-deceased by her husband, Homer A. Wright, in 1982.Funeral Services will be Friday, January 7, 2005 at 11:00 am at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Burial will be in the spring at Oakdale Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday, Jan. 6th. From 6 - 8 pm.Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, Inc.
