Arlene Hodgdon

Arlene Hodgdon, 90, of Springvale died Sunday afternoon August 25, 2002 in Portland, ME.She was born in Springvale on July 26, 1912. She was the daughter of Charles F. Sr. and Philamon Sturgeon Stiles. She attended local schools and graduated from Sanford H. S. in 1931. While attending Sanford High she played and was a starter for the girls basketball team. In 1933 she married Ralph A. Hodgdon, also of Springvale.Mrs. Hodgdon enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and was proud of her ever-blooming African Violets. For a short period of time she was employed at the Aleta dress company as a seamstress.Predeceasing her in 1978 was her husband Ralph.She is survived by a son Richard and his wife Valerie Hodgdon of Saco; a daughter Gloria Hodgdon of Portland; two grandsons, Scott of Saco, and Mark of N. Waterboro.Friends are invited to attend a 12:00 PM graveside service on Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at the Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, Meals on Wheels Program, 333 Lincoln St., Saco, ME 0407
