Arlene Cormier
Arlene (Anita) Cormier, beloved wife, mother, memere and great memere, passed in peace on May 29th, just one day after her 91st birthday. Anita was born to Marion and Alphonse Perreault on May 28, 1927 and grew up in Sanford. She met and married her husband of 69 years, Rosaire Cormier, on June 21st, 1947. They enjoyed dancing, camping with friends and roller skating on couples night at the local rink. Together they built their lifelong home in Sanford where they raised two daughters, Christine and Carole. Anita retired from Brooks Woolen as a payroll clerk where she managed payroll for the entire mill. In her retirement, Anita and Rosaire found joy in traveling with friends. Anita loved shopping with her daughters and grand-daughter, and spending time with her family. She was a dedicated memere and truly loved watching her great-grandchildren grow. She enjoyed crafting and was skilled at beading, crocheting, knitting, embroidery and sewing. She sewed clothes for her children, and continued the tradition with her grandchildren, making countless homemade scrub shirts for her family members working in healthcare, often tucking surprises in the pockets of those shirts. Later in life Anita and Rosaire could regularly be found practicing hydrokinetics in the pool at the YMCA with their pool pals.Anita is predeceased by her loving husband, Rosaire, her son-in-law, Bob and her sister, Delvina.She will be missed and loved by her daughters, Christine Pelletier of Gray, and Carole Wright and her husband Bob of Riverside, Washington, grandchildren Brian Pelletier and his wife Kim of Gray, and Laurie Theberge and her husband Jared of New Gloucester, and great grand-children Nick and Sydney Pelletier and Ethan and Evan Theberge.Visiting hours will be held on Monday June 4th from 2 to 4PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
