Resided in:
Sanford, ME
Archie J. Plante, 82, of Sanford passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 11, 2021.
He was born on October 9, 1938 to Rosaire and Yvette (Thibodeau) Plante in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools.
When he was young he worked in local shoe shops as well as the Alletta dress shop in Springvale.
Most of his career was spent at Tenneford Weaving where he was employed as a machinist for many years before retiring.
Archie, a parishioner of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, grew up attending Holy Family Church with his family. He was an altar server for many years along with his older brother Normand.
Archie was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. He was proud of the luck he had winning the moose lottery several times, knowing that only some are lucky enough to win once. He also enjoyed spending time at the Leisure Life Lodge on Moosehead Lake in Greenville.
He was a member of the Sanford-Springvale Fish and Game Association.
Archie and his wife Stella grew up as kids on the same street, married in 1960 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last fall. Archie loved his family and being with his grandchildren. He was always joking around with them. There are many memories of picking apples from his apple trees and making his amazing spaghetti sauce. He was loved very much and will be dearly missed.
Archie is predeceased by his parents, and a brother Normand Plante.
Survivors include his wife Stella (Roux) Plante of Sanford, his daughter Joanne Payeur and her husband Danny of Sanford, his son Kenneth Plante and his wife Corinne of Sanford, his daughter Debbie Plante of Sanford, his son Kevin Plante and his wife Jennifer of Charlotte, NC, his daughter Laurie Plante and her significant other Roland Cote of Wells, his sisters Jeannine Martineau and her husband Dick of Sanford, Sally Lamontagne and her husband Gerry of Scarborough, sisters in law Muriel Langlais and her husband Dick of Shapleigh, Diane Palmer and her husband Danny of Springvale, a brother in law Richard Roux and his wife Shirley of Sanford, grandchildren Jason (Sarah), Justin (Leanne) & Joshua Payeur, Matthew (Kathleen) Plante, Karyn (Billy) Hickey, Kayla (Dan) Leary, Michael (Samantha) Plante, Jarrett Plante, Julia (Brandon) Kasza, James Spring, Kyle Plante, Kalee Plante, Ashlyn Plante( Josh Morrison ), fifteen Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
