Apphia M. Ricker

Apphia M. Ricker, 83 years old, of Springvale, ME died Saturday afternoon April 12, 2003 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Mrs. Ricker was born on September 8, 1918 in Springvale, ME. She was the daughter of Lester and Bertha Sterling Bradford. She is a graduate of Sanford High School and for a short time worked at the Goodall Textile Mill in Sanford. For over 32 years Mrs. Ricker worked for Ballenger Auto of Sanford as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1981.Mrs. Ricker was a member of the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church of Springvale, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, the Pythian Sisters, and the Emblem Club. She was an avid stamp collector, and often set up a booth at the Newington Flea Market to display her extensive stamp collection.Surviving is her husband Howard Ricker of Springvale, two sons, Frank Ricker of Springvale, William Johnson of Sanford, a stepdaughter Arlene Stackpole of Sanford, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.At Mrs. Rickers' request services will be private.
