Apollonia Weinstein, age 97, died peacefully Saturday April 23, 2005 at her daughter Ann Rivard's home with family at her side; where she had lived for the past 43 years. She was born in Nurnberg, Germany on February 3, 1908; the daughter of Anton and Barbara (Ackerman) Haffner. She was educated in German schools and has resided in Sanford since 1962. She was said to be a very loving and generous mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother.Since the death of her late husband George, who died in 1952 she dedicated her life to her family. She always lent a helping hand whenever needed, and there was nothing selfish about her. She brought her children up mostly by herself during the war in Germany. She was also predeceased by a son Eddie and a daughter Ernstine.A homemaker, she was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church.Surviving is a son, Rudi Weinstein of Sanford; three daughters, Olga Sullivan of Elkton, MD, Ann Rivard with whom she resided, and Elsie Redman of Michigan ; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 29th at 11 :00 AM in St. Ignatius Church.
