Anna M. Murray, 79, of Springvale, a longtime resident of Branford and New Haven, CT, died January 31 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a long battle with heart disease.She was born in New Haven, CT on October 1, 1931, the daughter of Anthony and Beacina (Capella) Raccio. She attended Connecticut schools and was a graduate of East Haven High School.She was employed over the years with the Connecticut State Medical Society and the M.D. Health Plan. She retired in 1996 and moved to Maine to be closer to her family.She was a communicant of Holy Family Church.Mrs. Murray was an active member of the Trafton Senior Citizens Center where she enjoyed playing cards. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the AARP. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.She was predeceased by her husband Hugh R. Murray in 2002 and by a son Anthony Murray in 2009.Survivors include her son Michael Murray and his wife Robin of E. Longmeadow, MA, daughter Eleanor St. Pierre and her husband Stephen of Springvale, a brother Joseph Raccio of Madison, CT, a daughter in law Rhonda Murray of Hampton, NH, and 4 grandchildren, Caitlin Murray, Ariana St. Pierre, Patrick Murray and Bill Murray.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 6-8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30 AM at the Holy Family Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. Burial will be in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Helping Hands Fund of the H. D.
