Anita F. Labbe

Anita F. Labbe, 82, of Sanford, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a lengthy illness.Anita was born in Sanford on May 20, 1928 to Emile and Yvonne (Comeau) Frechette and attended local schools. After school she was employed at the Springvale mills in the burling and mending room until they closed. After the mills closed Anita stayed home to take care of her family. In 1953 she married Robert Labbe and they spent the next 58 years together and raised six children.Anita devoted her life to her family and always put their needs before her own. She was an excellent cook and took pride in preparing nice meals for her family members. She was a dedicated Catholic and had been a member of St. Ignatius Parish in Sanford. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and had been involved in Curcillo and the Catholic school lunch program. When Anita was a young woman she had served as a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was an outgoing and friendly woman who was always willing to help somebody in need. She will be remembered loving as devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Anita was predeceased by a son-in-law, Thomas Brown and by a sister, Lucille Gouin.Surviving are her husband Robert Labbe of Sanford; six children, Claire Brown of Sanford, Paul Labbe of Acton, Diane Gilpatrick of Sanford, Helen Bouchard of Springvale, Michael Labbe and his wife Patricia of Sanford and Daniel Labbe of Sanford; a brother, Raymond Frechette and his wife Cecile of Springvale; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 22nd at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford.
