Andrea A. Smith

Andrea A. Smith, 71 years old, of Sanford, ME died suddenly at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.Mrs. Smith was born on June 15, 1932 in Sanford, ME. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Dorothy Libby Abbott. She is a 1950 graduate of Sanford High School. From 1952-1954 Andrea was employed as an operator for the New England Tel & Tel. In 1954 she moved to California where she worked for Pacific Tel & Tel., and in 1956 Andrea married Kenneth R. Smith in Hollywood, CA. Together they lived in California for 22 years before returning to Maine. Upon her return to Maine she worked for Elcon, Sprague Electric, and eventually retired from Pratt & Whitney.Mrs. Smith was an active Boy Scout Den Mother for many years. She enjoyed painting, sewing, knitting, gardening, genealogy, and above all sharing special moments with her grandchildren, and family.Surviving is her husband of 48 years Kenneth R. Smith of Sanford; two sons, Brian K. and Laurie Smith of Sanford, Kevin T. and Marguerite Smith of Sanford; six grandchildren, Ashlee, Alex, Leah, Greg, Andrew, and Kendra. Also surviving is a brother Kenneth Abbott of CA; two sisters, Linda Edwina Winslow of FL, Jean Abbott of NY, and several nieces and nephews.A period of visitation will be held on Thursday May 13, 2004 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, ME; where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM.
