Alice B. Provencher

Alice B. Provencher 93 a resident of the Newton Center and a fomer long time resident of Limerick died Sunday evening at her residence following a long illness. She was born in Woonsocket, RI December 15, 1912 a daughter of Alphonse & Laura (Cadorette) Chabot. Mrs. Provencher was educated in Woonsocket.Mrs. Provencher moved to Limerick in 1935 and was employed at the former Limercick Mills, until her marriage to her husband, Alcide in 1941. She was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church.She enjoyed gardening and canned most of all of her harvest. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and making quilts.Her daughter Jeanne said of her mother that she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Provencher was pre-deceased by her husband Alcide who died in 1988, Alcide Jr. in 2004, also her brother and sister.Survivors are her daughter Jeanne Wakefield and her husband Richard of Lyman, two sons, Rene Provencher and his wife Dale of Lynchburg, VA and Norman Provencher and his wife Ching of Bristol Ct. 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the activity fund at the Newton Center 35 July St., Sanford, ME 04073.Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 7 :30 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 :30 AM Wednesday at St. Matthew's Church in Limerick. Burial will follow in Highland Annex Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed by using the tab to the left.
