"Hank" Allain, 79, of the Town House Apartments, died Thursday March 7, 2002 at The Goodall Hospital after a short illness.He was born in Neguac New Brunswick, Canada on August 20, 1922. His family moved to Maine when he was about two years old. He was the son of Benjamin and Alice (Robichaud) Allain.An accomplished guitar player in his teens, he played in the "Sanford Troubadours" at local dances and on the radio. His nickname "Hank" referred to his similarities to musician Hank Williams.During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army in The Pacific Theater including Somoa, New Guinea and Iwo Jima.He married Huguette "Betty" Roy in 1947. For many years he worked in the textile and shoe industries. He assisted in the construction of Pease Air Force Base and after a number of years working for Sprague Electric, retiring in 1984.Survivors include two sons, Dennis Allain of Alamo, Texas and Raymond Allain of Sanford; two brothers, Louis Valmore Allain and Joe Allain of Sanford; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his brothers Albert, Patrick and Raymond Allain, and his sister Marie Claire Dupuis, and by his wife who died in 1995.Relatives and friends may call on Saturday March 9, 2002 from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM at Heald Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine, where a funeral is to follow at 5:30 PM. Relatives and friends are welcome to gather with the family following the service at The Heald Family Center.
