Addie Orinda Butler Cobbett 99, of Mt. Hope Road in Sanford, passed away at her home on April 23, 2005. She had recently returned from her annual winter stay in Florida.Addie was born on February 4, 1906 in Sanford, the oldest daughter of Harvey and Etta Holmes Butler. She graduated from Sanford High School on June 19, 1923. Shortly after graduation she worked as a bookkeeper for the Sanford Trust Company. She was a long time employee for over forty years retiring in 1970.She married Stephen Porter Cobbett on April 13, 1928 in a small private ceremony. After the ceremony they left for their home on Mt. Hope where she lived for three-quarters of a century.Nana loved to knit and make afghans for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel, seeing Europe, world fairs and for the past fifteen years, wintering in Florida. She loved to read western novels; her favorite author was Louis L'amour. Everyone looked forward to Nana's cooking. She will long be remembered for making the best apple pies; family members were always excited when there was enough extra dough left over for her to make "bellyaches. Addie enjoyed her weekly luncheons with the retired "girls" from the bank. She has been lovingly cared for by her daughter Stephanie for the past ten years. Stephanie would take her mother to Florida every fall and return in the spring. Her husband Stephen passed away 43 years ago. Addie loved the farm and the home they made together. She did a wonderful job keeping it so it could remain with the family.She was predeceased by her husband Stephen, a son Wilbur, a great-grandson Justin Leslie and a great-granddaughter Bethany Fritz who were all waiting for her on the other side.She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Keswick of Belfast and Barbara Lizotte of Sanford, eleven grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.A period of visitation will be held at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale on Monday, April 25, 2005 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 10:00 am at the Oakdale Cemetery, located on the Twombley Road in Sanford. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be sent in Addie's name to The Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301
