James R. Brackett

James R. Brackett Jr., 62, of Westbrook, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Thursday October 17, 2019 in Portland. He was born on October 20, 1956 in Eastport a son of James Brackett Sr., and Marie Jollotta.James grew up in Westbrook and lived there most of his life. He was proud of his time in the service as a Marine. He worked as a head custodian for Portland Public Schools for many years.As a young boy he would collect golf balls at Riverside Golf Course in Westbrook and sell them back to the golfers. He enjoyed fishing and all sports, especially New England teams and the Montreal Canadians hockey team. He loved music, especially rock n roll, horseracing and playing black jack.James in survived by his daughter, Melissa Brackett of Springvale and her other half, Christopher Goff, his son, Jacob Brackett of Westbrook and his sister, Angelina Dibiase, his grandson, Gage Gagnon of Springvale and Gabrielle Brackett of Shapleigh. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Brackett of Westbrook, Patty McDonald and her husband, David of Somersworth, NH, Peggy Mayo and her husband, Donald of Waterboro, Paula Brackett of Springvale, Mary Bogan and her partner, Wally Rogers of Springvale, Wanda Parent and husband, David of Springvale, Vicky Langlais and her husband, David of Springvale, Joanne Morrissette of Portland, Gloria Poirier and her husband, Danny of Minot, brother, John McCluskey and his wife, Lorna of Lewiston, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a great grandson on the way, Carter William Hersey.A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, October 25th at 11AM at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.
