Vincent Anthony Grosso

December 5, 1942 ~ August 30, 2026

Born in: Portland, ME
Resided in: North Yarmouth, ME

Vincent Anthony Grosso, Sr., 83, of North Yarmouth, passed away after a brief illness surrounded by his family on August 30, 2026. He was born on December 5, 1942, in Portland, Maine.

Known affectionately as Vinnie or Butchie, he graduated from Portland High School in 1961, where he also met and married his high school sweetheart, Joy Perry. They shared 51 years of marriage before her passing in 2011.

After graduation, Vinnie worked as a machinist for Crosby Laughlin Company and later served as a custodian at Greely High School and purchaser at Bellino-Grosso Plumbing Company.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and lobstering, often sharing his catch with others. He also loved music, dancing, and going out to dinner with dear friends.

Vinnie’s Catholic faith guided his life. His children fondly remember Saturday evening Mass at St. Peter’s followed by family pasta dinners. A dedicated parishioner, he attended services regularly, volunteered at St. Peter’s Italian Bazaar, and cherished the lasting friendships he made there.

Family was everything to Vinnie. His Christmas Eve table was always open to family, friends, and anyone in need of a place to belong. He rarely missed a game, recital, or milestone involving his children and grandchildren. Known for calling loved ones “baby,” “sweetheart,” or “darlin’,” he had a gift for making people feel special.

Vinnie loved the beach, sunshine, and time spent at Little Sebago Lake. The camp door was always open…literally and figuratively. Remembered by many as the “King of the Beach” and the “Ambassador of Cambell Shore,” he will be missed for his warmth, kindness, and lakeside conversations.

Vinnie is survived by his partner, Katie; his brother, Robert and Carol Grosso; his daughter, Dr. Deanna Davis and fiancé Mark Michaud of Cumberland Center; his sons Vincent and Nadine Grosso of Gray, and Peter Grosso of Westbrook; his grandchildren, Timothy and Colbi Grosso-Keith, Andrew Keith, Olivia and Chloe Grosso, and Ava Grosso. He was predeceased by his wife, Joy Perry Grosso.

While he will always be remembered, loved, and missed, Heaven gained an Angel with a heart of gold. Vinnie not only lived a full life but carefully curated a lifetime of memories that will sustain the family for years to come.

Guestbook

  1. Vinnie had a pure heart ❤️ of gold .
Heaven gained an angel and the night sky a star 🌟
    He will be missed

  2. A good man has gained his wings. Oh the laughs we shared. My sympathy to all who knew and loved him as I did.

  3. I had the pleasure of knowing Big Vin for most of my life. D and I have been friends since grade school. Vin was a “super flirt” but always a gentleman. Along with Mama Joy, I was welcomed in their home and never left hungry. They completed each other which was evident whenever you saw them together. He was patient, loving but always put me in my place when D and I hit our “high school years” (if you know what I mean). He was a dear friend of my parents. Vin & Chris would visit them at their hunting camps every year. Mommie would affectionatley referred to them as “dumb and dumber”. Which meant when they went fishing, all they came back with was a buzz and stories about the big fish that “got away”. As sad as I am that he is gone from this earth, I know he is in heaven with Mama Joy and Daddy has a fishing buddy. Fly free Vin, I will always love you.
