Catherine Ann Marie Noonan

Catherine Noonan, 65, of Sanford, Maine passed away on March 15 in Puerto Rico after a valiant battle with bile duct cancer.

Catherine, known as Cathy, was born on December 19, 1960 in Hull, Québec and raised in Hampton, NH. After graduating from Winnacunnet High School in 1978, she went on to study at Plymouth State College.

In 1991, Cathy met Robert Bryan and together, they raised two daughters in Sanford, Maine. She was a loving and devoted mother who will be deeply missed.

Throughout her school days, Cathy was an avid athlete and excelled at skiing, softball and basketball. In high school, she loved being in the band. She was known for her skill at piano and performed at many school concerts. As an adult, she was a sports fan and never missed a Patriots game. She also coached her daughters in soccer, basketball and softball; no distance was ever too far for her to drive to watch her children’s sports games.

As a professional dog groomer, Cathy was frequently requested by clients who knew that their pets would emerge especially well-coiffed under Cathy’s expert hands. She also worked as a school bus driver in the Maine school system and as trolley driver in Ogunquit.

Her passion for dogs extended to breeding and showing, and she took pride in showing her bulldog Ollie and in recent years her corgi Augie.

Cathy loved to travel, especially on cruise lines that went to warm weather locales. Her idea of paradise was sitting on a sandy beach, umbrella drink in hand, and looking over the sapphire waters of the Caribbean.

Cathy is predeceased by her parents John and Frances Noonan and by her partner Robert Bryan. She is survived by her children Samantha Bryan of Biddeford, ME and Kaitlyn Bryan of Boston MA; her sister Margaret Witherington (Blake) of Newburyport, MA; her granddaughter Olivia Frances and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and partner, she was predeceased by her birthmother Diane Cashman. Other Canadian family members who survive her include half- siblings Lynn Chenier and Mike Chenier of Gatineau, Quebec; Lynda St. Lewis of Ottawa, Ontario and Wayne McGuire, Danny McGuire and Gerry McGuire of Ontario, Canada.

She also leaves behind her adored corgis Josie and Augie.

Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a celebration of life immediately following on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Black-Heald Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, ME. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth, NH where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents John and Frances Noonan.
