Angelina Alves Magno

October 31, 1936 ~ November 11, 2025

Portland – Angelina (Angie) Alves Magno, 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 31, 1936, Angelina was the seventh of nine children born to Antone and Adelina (Pacheco) Alves, who emigrated from the Azores in Portugal. Angelina attended Portland schools and held various jobs within the community, retiring in 2002 after a 20-year career in Nutrition Services at Maine Medical Center, where she was a supervisor. Angelina dedicated her life to her family, raising 3 daughters, being a loving Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and taking care of her mother and great-aunt in their later years.

She was a loving aunt, adored by 37 nieces and nephews and will be forever known as the “funny one.” Angelina was known as a good friend to many within the communities that she lived in, whether it be helping them shovel their driveway or just being a caring presence in their life when they needed it most. Above all, she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to be together or to remind them they were “her heart, her soul, her life.”

Angelina was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Adeline, Lorraine, Mary, and Rita; and brothers, Vintura, Antone, and Joseph. She leaves behind and will be deeply missed by her daughters: Christina McCluskey and her husband Peter of Falmouth, Arvina Howe of Portland, and Justina Magno of Westbrook; grandchildren: Angelina (Gina) Campbell, Sophia McCluskey, Peter McCluskey, Lucia Deluca and her partner Tyler, Renaldo Lowry, Gabriella Powell and her husband Wyatt, Giavanna Kaper, and Mari Kaper; and great-grandchildren: Amity, Aristos, and Santino.
She is also survived by her brother Eugene Alves and his wife, Ada, of Brunswick, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Angelina had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews-in-law, Anna Stein and her husband Joe, and Barbara Boyle and her husband Rick.

Angelina’s family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their outstanding care and compassion for Angelina during her stay.

  10. Angie was the best aunt that a boy could ever have. Every time I saw her, she told me I was her favorite nephew. I knew she said that to all her nephews…but I still loved hearing it. She was the sweetest, kindest and most considerate person I ever met. Always positive, happy and funny. When I was a young boy living just up the street from her — Aunt Angie gave me my first job: babysitting her daughters. I feel very blessed that my Aunt Angie was in my life. I miss her already. May her memory be a blessing. Farewell Auntie. I know the good Lord will rest your soul in Heaven.
