Janet M. Coyne

July 16, 1953 ~ March 22, 2025

Resided in: Acton, Maine

Janet M. Coyne, 71, of Acton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Pinnacle Health and Rehabilitation in North Berwick after a period of declining health.

Born in Sanford on July 16, 1953, to Hervey and Barbara (Cobbett) Lizotte, Janet grew up in Sanford, where she attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School. Throughout her life, she held various jobs, working at Bass Shoes, Shaw’s, Ames, D&K Depot, York County Teacher’s Federal Credit Union, and ultimately retiring after many dedicated years with Maine Behavioral Health Care.

Janet had a quiet and gentle nature, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved shopping, attending fairs—especially to see the horses—birdwatching, and gardening. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, often spoiling them with love and taking them on special outings to parades and events. She found deep fulfillment in staying connected with family and friends, sharing stories, and catching up on the latest news. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, Mark Joseph Coyne, as well as her siblings, Daniel Lizotte and Pamela Lizotte Gauthier.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her six children: Michael Lizotte and his wife Tracy of Saco, Patrick Coyne and his wife Jenna of Shapleigh, Stephen Coyne and his significant other, Sandy Roux of Alfred, Meghan Cote and her husband Chris of Biddeford, Elizabeth Kepler and her husband James of Vermont, and Timothy Coyne of Acton. She was a proud grandmother to fifteen grandchildren: Jillian, Abigail, Emma, Lydia, Paisley, Maxwell, Parker, Clarice, Carter, Emmi, William, Jackson, Rose, Rylie, and Aria. She is also survived by her sister, Darlene Irving and her husband Stephen of Sanford; her sister-in-law, Sheila Coyne of Freeport; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Black-Heald Walker Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pinnacle Health and Rehabilitation in North Berwick for the kindness and compassionate care shown to Janet during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Janet’s memory may consider making a memorial contribution to the Pinnacle Health and Rehabilitation Activities Fund, 47 Elm Street, North Berwick, Maine 03906.

Janet’s love, kindness, and quiet strength will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved.
