Marielle C. “Marie” Belanger, 87, of Sanford, died at Pinnacle Health in Sanford on Monday, December 19, 2022.
Marie was born in St. Felix de Kinsey, Quebec, Canada on March 25, 1935 to Maurice and Ledorina (Burbank) Thibodeau. Her parents died when she was very young and she was adopted by her aunt, Lillian Blanchette and raised in Springvale. In 1956 she married Gerard Belanger and together they raised three daughters and shared 66 years of marriage. During her working life she was employed for many years at Elcon in Sanford.
Marie’s biggest joys in life were being a mom, wife and tending to her home. When she wasn’t tending to her children or her home, she enjoyed sewing and was an amazing seamstress. She also enjoyed shopping and going for long walks with her next door neighbor Rita. She was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. She was a soft spoken woman with a great sense of humor and loved to make others smile. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
Marielle was predeceased by five siblings, Bernard Thibodeau, Mark Thibodeau, Gilberte Normand, Bruno Thibodeau and Solange Lamontagne.
Surviving are her husband, Gerard A. Belanger of Sanford; three daughters, Linda Kelly and her husband John of Sanford, Cathy Bergeron and her husband Craig of Ipswich, Massachusetts and Sandra Desrochers and her husband Norman of Sanford; eight grandchildren, Allyssa Croce and her husband Rob, Shawna Kelly and her fiancé Brian Nazzaro, Krista Kelly and her husband Tom Tabb, Jennifer Bergeron and her husband Jacob, Maegan Bergeron and her fiancé Paul Bishop, Brett Bergeron, Kyle Desrochers and his wife Renée and Brianna Desrochers and her fiancé Ryan Kaulbach; six great grandchildren; two siblings, Pat Moore and her husband Raymond and Vivian LaValle and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Pinnacle and thank them for their loving care, compassion and kindness that they showed towards Marie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 23rd at St. Therese if Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. A Luncheon will be held following the funeral at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will be held in the Spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
