South Portland - Gwendolyn "Gwen" J. Steuterman, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, with her family by her side. Gwen was born on January 21, 1943, in Albany, NY, the daughter of the later Merrill R. and Johannaha (Farley) Morgan. Shortly after Gwen was born, her father received a job in South Portland, and the family relocated. Gwen grew up in South Portland, attended local schools, and graduated from the South Portland High School, Class of 1962. After high school Gwen attended the Golden School of Beauty where she took cosmetology classes. Gwen married in 1968 and had kids later in life. After cosmetology school Gwen worked at the United States Coast Guard Exchange System, District 1, in South Portland. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and she was a communicant of St. John's Parish. She will be remembered by her family, especially her grandchildren, as a strong willed and honest woman. Gwen was predeceased by her son, Sean Steuterman; and a sister, Gail Reddy. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gonneville of Old Orchard beach; a brother, John Morgan and his wife Maxine of Portland; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Cassidy, and Sean Gonneville all of Old Orchard Beach; two nieces, Cindy Small of Bangor, Gwen Mahon of Bangor; seven nieces and nephews; one great nephew; neighbor, Coraline Stewart; and mailman, Andrew Demauro. A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 22, 2018, at St. Mary's Cemetery, Elm Street, Biddeford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
