Portland - Sarah Harthorne, 93, passed away on June 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Sarah was born on November 17, 1930, in Portland, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Mary McLinden. She grew up in Portland, where she later married Lee Harthorne Sr. in 1957. Together, they raised their two children on Veranda Street in Portland and at Highland Lake in Falmouth.
A dedicated stay-at-home mom, Sarah cherished her time with her family. She had a fondness for soap operas, and enjoyed her daily "yummy chocolate drink,” Werther’s, and Red Rose tea. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a devoted parishioner of St. Pius X Church.
Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Lee Harthorne Sr.; her daughter, Mary; and her sisters, Theresa Reagan, Florence Queen, Mary Heidenthal, and Lorraine Miller. She is survived by her son, Lee Harthorne Jr. and his wife Jacqueline of Scarborough; her daughter, Lori Jones and her husband Chris of Hartland; and her three beloved grandchildren, Angelina, Kali, and Landin Harthorne. Sarah is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Bronn of Portland and Barbara Howard of Falmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sarah's family would like to extend their gratitude to 75 State Street and the 3rd Floor at Maine Medical Center.
A graveside service to celebrate Sarah's life will be held on (date) at (time) at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. To view Sarah's memorial page, or to share online condolences, please visit www.ConroyTullyWalker.com

Sorry to hear of Aunt Sarah’s passing. I will never forget all the great times growing up on Highland Lake…Hide-a-way lane !
So sorry to hear of Sarah’s passing. We were neighbors for many years. She was such a good person – so soft-spoken and kind. We think of her and her family often. May she rest in peace knowing that she and Lee raised 2 wonderful children.
Aunt Sarah had one of the biggest hearts I have seen. The kindest, most non judgmental person I have ever met. You will be missed but never forgotten. ♥️
So sorry to hear of Sarah’s passing. For 20 years she and Lee were our wonderful next-door neighbors whom we were quite fond of. Tom & Sally Bannen
